WINOL: Absolute:ly Magazine Week 6

Wednesday 30th October: Perfume Special: Does Money matter?

In this article I analyse five fragrances in various price ranges to distinguish particular smells associated with day-to-day and evening wear and exploring whether or not price really matters when finding your perfect fragrance. This article is useful for explaining technical differences between  eau de toilette, eau de parfum and perfume and heart notes, top notes and base notes.

The images took a lot of editing on Fireworks and I’m really happy with the overall quality. However, on reflection the background is way too busy and the typography isn’t easy to read. Next time I will focus on producing spreads with plain backgrounds so that the images and text stand out better.

My Week in Beauty

Our Absolute:ly Editor came up with the idea for this piece to be a weekly entry by each member of the team. This was a tricky spread to create as we are usually advised to use canvas sizes best suited for a natural field of vision. In reflection – similar to the perfume piece – the background needs to be less busy and the volume of text is too much to read in a single spread. It is because of this, along with many other reasons, that this idea was scrapped from our magazine.
