Tuesday 22nd October: No Sportsweek.
Wednesday 23rd October: (4th WINOL Bulletin)
Presenter: Ben Hatton News Editor: Harry Parkhill
This week I was in charge of the Vision Mixer. This was my second time on this piece of equipment and although seemingly terrifying with its endless buttons it was much easier after more practice. In addition to the usual bulletin, this week featured an in-studio discussion with our political correspondent, Alex Delaney. This required a reliance of judgment on my part to switch between cameras to keep the flow of the interview interesting for the audience. With help from our director, Alex Mason, our bulletin was well produced without any noticeable mistakes.
We had brilliant feedback this week from Angus Scott, Graham Bell and Ian Anderson.
Sub-editing was better this week as articles had been more thoroughly checked by reporters although headlines still need to be worked on. You can read a full debrief on our bulletin here:
The Big Interview
After Winol, our production team stayed on to film UKIP’s Diane James in an interview with Nadine Forshaw for Winchester News Online. You can watch the full video here:

Wednesday 30th October: (5th WINOL Bulletin)
Presenter: Nadine Forshaw News Editor: Liam Garrahan
This week was my first time on Sound. Although seemingly easy I found sound needed a lot of focus and attention to keep up with UPSOTs (additional sounds over presenter), NATSOTs (natural sounds on tape) and OOVs (out of vision audio).
I got very positive feedback from people in the gallery and the bulletin ran smoothly in production. Again, we didn’t have much time of rehearsals due to a late script and we ran a couple of seconds over 3 o’ clock for broadcast. However, we received positive feedback from our editors and guest editors. You can read a full debrief of our bulletin with feedback from guest editors Chris Coneybeer and Ian Anderson here:
